Last shift in Costco

Today was my last shift in Cotsco. Two years ago exactly, I was attending a recruitment meeting in Ninian park. Following that, I join the demonstrating team there. It has been a good experience. I have met some very interesting characters, most of who I would never have met otherwise. I cant’ say I’ll miss the job itself, although some aspects of it are interesting and challenging. But I’ll definitely miss the people I worked with, the Costco staff, and some of the members (costco does not have customers but members). Some were very sweet, wishing me well for the future. I tried to see as many as possible, but that’s not possible.

I am now looking forward to the first Costco opening in France. Not to go and work there, but to go and shop there.

After the Revolution by Albert Mohler | Reformed Theology Articles at Ligonier.org

The following article appeared in the June issue of Tabletalk magazine: After the Revolution by Albert Mohler.

Extract:

Like the Reformers who seized the opportunity afforded by the Gutenberg Revolution, we must see the world of new media as an arena for Christian truth-telling. Our engagement with new media is driven by impulses that are evangelistic, missiological, and grounded in apologetics.

And here is his conclusion:

Like every information revolution, the rise of new media requires Christian discernment. At the same time, there is no way we can ignore this challenge and deny the revolution. We can hardly expect to explain the hope that is in us when we aren’t even part of the conversation.

Commissioning service

Last night was our commissioning service in the Heath Evangelical Church. There were a lot of people, many from our church, but some had travelled a fair distance to be there: Carmarthen, Cricieth in North Wales, Clevedon… A family even cam from Southend on Sea, about 160 miles away. It was a great privilege to be there and we are overwhelmed by people’s love and kindness.

Our Pastor preached from Romans 1:16: For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek. He reminded us that we were called to gospel ministry and gave us some reason why we should be excited about it: It is a good news about salvation, it is the power of God, and it is for everyone.

Thank you all for your prayers and support.

A relaxing weekend.

One needs a relaxing weekend from time to time. This one was most relaxing.

On Saturday morning, we went for a long walk from our house to the other side of the River Taff, some parts are very wild, and you’d almost forget you are in a city with over 300 000 inhabitants. I’ll post a couple of pictures later. Then, Esther and my mum did a few boxes before going to the church BBQ in Porthkerry country Park, Barry.

Getting to the BBQ was quite a challenge for my map reading skills. I am usually quite good at reading maps, but this time I failed miserably. We got lost twice before finding our way and it took us an hour to arrive instead of 30 minutes. There was a good group of people, lot of youngsters, good food, good fellowship. The gospel was clearly presented by one of our elders. One the way back, we had a quick glance at Barry Island (my first time there), and went home in just under 1/2 an hour.

Sunday was nice and warm. I took my parents to the station, and we went to church. Then we had a great afternoon in Pontypridd with our friends the Pikes. We were in the garden all the time, chatting away and playing around with the kids. It was great to leave the stress of moving behind for an afternoon, and just enjoy life.

The coming week is busy with the commissioning service tommorrow, and lot of admin to prepare the move. Then I finish work officialy on Thursday.
