Britain 2012, Day 6 — Bala — Bangor

It was a dry day for once. We relaxed in Bala, went to the lake. We had a visit from two of Esther’s sisters with baby Aled. By the lakeside we met a multilingual  Canadian-Chilean couple who speaks amongst other languages: English, German, Spanish, Welsh, Breton, French. It was fun.

In the afternoon, I made my way to Bangor to have tea with the Job’s before the prayer meeting at Capel y Ffynon, the Welsh Evangelical church. It was good to see old friends and I had a good time there. It was dry on the way back, and there was enough light for me to enjoy the scenery.

Britain 2012, Day 5: Aberystwyth to Bala and Wrexham

It was raining heavily in Aberystwyth, and it rained most of the journey to Bala. We got there for lunch and enjoyed a relaxed afternoon  with Esther’s mum and Dad. The children insisted on going out but got soaked after a few minutes.

In the evening, Ioan (Esther’s dad) drove me to Borras Park, Wrexham to speak in their prayer meeting. They had invited other churches to come and there was a good number of people. We drove back later under heavy rain again. But it was dry in Bala.

Deputation visits are tiring, but it is such an encouragement to meet in person with those who pray for us and support us.

Britain 2012, day 4

We woke up with a beautiful view on the hills around the farmhouse where we are staying. The morning was relaxing. The children fed the sheep and went on the tractor. Afterwards, we took off to visit Aberystwyth. We walked along the seaside and went to town. Later, Esthers’ cousin came to the house in Goginan with his family.

In the evening, I spoke at the Welsh Evangelical Church. It is a prayerful group who shows a lot of interest in our work. It was a real privilege to be able to see them again and share with them about what the Lord is doing in Brittany.

2012 visit to Britain, day 3

It was another good day. We started slowly and hanged around at the Christofides’ and left around 11. We initially planned to go to town, but finally decided to have lunch at one2two, Heath Church’s tea room and bookshop. We had good food for cheap, and saw a few friends there. We’ll be visiting the Heath Church next week.

After that, we took off for Aberystwyth. It was raining most of the way, but we still enjoyed some nice views. After tea, I went to speak about the work at Alfred Place Baptist Church. A few people new Guingamp and have been there several times, but they didn’t know about the church. It was a good meeting, with a lot of questions at the end. Afterwards, people came to speak to me. This meeting being the first on our tour of Wales, I struggled a bit to start with, but it eventually got better.

Now for a good night sleep and a relaxed day tomorrow.

2012 visit to Britain, days 1 and 2

We arrived in the UK on Saturday afternoon after a beautiful crossing. The see was a bit choppy, but the sun was shining and we ended up spending most of the time on the deck. The kids were great considering it was a 6 hours ferry crossing.

We then made our way to Clevedon for our first stop. Brian and Viv, from Clevedon Evangelical church hosted us for the night, and I preached in there in the morning. In the afternoon, we made our way to Cardiff, our second stop on the road. I preached in St Mellons Baptist Church. We stayed overnight with their minister, Andy Christofides.

Today, we’re off to Aberystwyth for two nights. I’ll be speaking in Alfred Place Baptist church tonight and the Welsh evangelical church tomorrow.
