“The care of pastors for their flock will be proportional to their care for the Lord. By the Lake of Galilee Jesus had examined Peter about his love for him. Only as he confessed his love for Christ was Peter charged to shepherd the flock of Christ. Love for Christ will kindle compassion for Christ’s scattered sheep, the little ones for whom he died. Lucas Cranach’s altarpiece painting in Wittenberg shows on the right side Luther preaching, and on the left side the people listening. In the middle Cranach has represented Christ on the cross. The painting was evidently intended to show that worship centres on the preaching of Christ crucified. The people see not the preacher, but Christ. No doubt we should read that picture from the other side as well. The preacher must present Christ; more than that, to know his people, he must know Christ, He must serve the flock in the light of the cross. Their calue to the Lord is the price of his blood.”

A beautiful wedding
Saturday morning, we left for Caen, in Normandy, about 3 hours drive away, for a wedding. My cousin Cedric, from Paris, was marrying Laurence, from Caen. We had a great time. Apart from my grandmother, I hadn’t see that side of the family for at least 20 years. It was good to see them again and have some news. Continue reading “A beautiful wedding”

A weekend in Gex
We used to live in Ferney-Voltaire, just over the border between Switzerland and France, behind Geneva airport. I made the most of being in Geneva to visit some friends who live in Gex, not far from there. It was good to catch up. On Sunday we attended the Lausanne Reformed Baptist Church where I saw a few familiar faces. We were invited out for lunch and had a lovely time in the Swiss countryside.
I travelled back home on Monday and arrived in the evening to find that Jean-Baptist has his left arm plastered after a bad fall.
Gospel Centred ministry, 10-12th May, Geneva
From 10th to 12th April 2012, the Geneva Bible Institute managed to gather 730 church leaders, Christian workers and Theological students for a conference on « a Gospel-centred ministry. The main speakers were John Piper, Don Carson and French theologian Henry Blocher. I had the great privilege to attend of this event. It was an opportunity to hear the Word preached, catch up with friends and meet new people. The weather was hot and sunny, with only a little rain on the Saturday morning before.
