Saturday morning, we left for Caen, in Normandy, about 3 hours drive away, for a wedding. My cousin Cedric, from Paris, was marrying Laurence, from Caen. We had a great time. Apart from my grandmother, I hadn’t see that side of the family for at least 20 years. It was good to see them again and have some news.
It was a small wedding. there were about 60 guests. After a quick civil wedding in Caen’s beautiful town hall we drove 1/2h to the place where the rest of the festivities were taking place. The food was lovely. We managed to leave at around midnight, which is early for a French wedding. I’m glad we did as the music stopped at 4 am.
The following morning, we went back to the same place to spend more time with the family and have something to eat before going home. The weather was awful and it rained all the way from Caen to Guingamp. But at least we had very little traffic. All the cars seemed to go the opposite direction.
