A young man who seems to have genuinely been converted a few weeks ago asks me to help him build up a small library of Christian Books before he moves from where he is living now. Here is your challenge: what would you suggest? I am not sure of his budget, but I know it will be limited. The books will have to be in French.
Here is what I thought to get started:
- “Le voyage du Pélerin” (Pilgrim’s progress),
- “Le bon Fondement” Olivier Favre.
- “L’évangile ni plus, ni moins” Stuart Olyott (out of print, but I have a few copies).
What else would you suggest? I thought of a good Biography, or something to do with church History.
John Chapman’s “A fresh start” is available – Un Nouveau Départ (I’ve not read it but I hear good things about it).
Various John Piper titles are in French. And some Don Carson – including his notes that take you through the McCheyne reading plan.
Some of the GBU’s Question Suivante might be helpful on particular questions he might have?
The Westminster texts – including the shorter catechism is available in French as well.
