I enjoyed the crepe making afternoon. It took place in the Breton Cultural centre, in Guingamp. 18 places were offered and 14 people turned up. Two ladies had been invited to give us some tips. They seem to be quite well known characters and are often invited for special events like this one. One of them was a Breton speaker and seemed quite keen to speak Breton with people. It was very frustrating that I haven’t yet reached the level to have a conversation with people. I will work harder.
We were given the traditionnal recipies for both Crepes and Galettes (the savoury version, with buckwheat flour). After that, we had a try making the crepes and Galettes on the griddle.
It looks so easy when you watch people doing it, but it is actually quite tricky. Some people were already good at it, but had come to see if they could learn some new tips. The others were like me and were having a go for the first time. After making a few crepes, it becomes much easier. But I still need some practice. I now need to buy an electric griddle, and we’ll have a go at making Galettes and crepes.
At the end of the afternoon, we enjoyed the product of our work with a cup of coffee. There was enough left for us to bring home. When I got there, Maxime’s first question was: do you have any crepes?
