FOCUS Bretagne

FOCUS Bretagne is a training scheme for lay people who want to have more responsibilities in their local churches. It means: FOrmer des Chrétiens Utiles pour le Service (Training Christians Useful For Service). There are about 6 sessions a year, and they meet in a place called Crampoisic in central Brittany. The organisers have invited church leaders this afternoon to come along and discover what they are doing. I’ll be going along with Emmanuel Hartiel and Claude Broux. If you want to check out their website (in French), you’ll find it here: FOCUS-Bretagne.

J’entends ta douce voix (I hear thy welcome voice)

Sing it to the tune of : I hear thy welcome voice (I am coming Lord)

J’entends ta douce voix,
Jésus, je viens à Toi.
Je viens, ô Sauveur, lave-moi
Dans le sang de ta Croix !

Refrain

Jésus, Roi des rois,
Qui mourus pour moi,
Je veux mourir avec Toi,
Avec Toi sur la Croix.
J’entends ta douce voix,
Qui me dit : “Crois en Moi !”
Je crois, Seigneur, soutiens ma foi,
Tiens-moi près de ta Croix !

J’entends ta douce voix,
Elle pénètre en moi
Et me dit d’aimer comme Toi.
De l’amour de la Croix !

J’entends ta douce voix,
Toi qui mourus pour moi,
Seigneur, que je m’unisse à Toi
Dans ta mort, par la foi !

A quote to read slowly

If we are to appreciate that which is central in the gospel, if the jubilee trumpet is to find its echo again in our hearts, our thinking must be revolutionized by the realism of the wrath of God, of the reality and gravity of our guilt, and of the divine condemnation. It is then and only then that our thinking and feeling will be rehabilitated to an understanding of God’s grace in the justification of the ungodly.
